DETAILED CONTENTS

Experiencing Life is a combination biology textbook/field guide/travel guide to aid in understanding and appreciating our living world. The first unit (chapters 1-4) provides background information to enrich the understanding of the biology, and units two and three (chapters 5-10) describe the basic biology common to many living things. Those three units set the stage for the emphasis of this guide, which is ecology and evolution (units four through seven - chapters 11-51). The interactions of living things with other living things and with their varied environments has resulted in the great diversity of organisms on earth today. In addition to describing this biological and environmental diversity, Experiencing Life also guides you to the locations where it may be observed first-hand. By truly experiencing life in this way, biology will come alive itself.
