The laws of nature govern the way things work here on earth and throughout the universe. The study of the laws of nature is called physics. Physics deals primarily with energy, matter and the way the two work together. Living things require energy and are made of matter, so these an understanding of physics is essential to understanding the way living things work. This chapter will give a basic background to physics as it applies to life.
